Digital twin. Riga city example.
While a digital twin, in its simplest sense, can be a virtual (digital) model of a physical object, when we look at a whole city it can be much more than that. Digital twin for a city could serve as a model for urban planning and construction, preservation of objects with signs of historical importance, a hub for monitoring, creating and developing projects across the whole city. To implement and use such a wide range of solutions and tools there must be a foundation, upon which it must be built. Riga city 3D model created from data gathered in 2021, could be the beginning for Riga city 3D digital twin. This presentation looks at the how the data that have been used to build Riga city 3D model where acquired, what other products were created together with it. What were the challenges, benefits and revelations following this project. What are the plans for the future.
