Improving forest fire hazard monitoring accuracy

So far Estonia is using Nesterov model for assessment of landscape fire hazard. Values are calculated in about 20 weather-stations and results are then interpolated to whole Estonia. The improvement of accuracy is expected to come from using more detailed weather data at 1×1 km grid and more detailed data about fuel amount and structure. Interpolation moves to more spatially detailed level which also improves accuracy. Fire hazard assessment would be done using the Canadian model which considers better the impact of small precipitation events. Also, spread of the fire in case of event and possible damage as well as potential damage avoided will be discussed.
