Insar – Layers of movement

Satellite based Interferometric SAR (InSAR) is a novel remote sensing method that detects object movements in millimeter scale, around the Globe. These movements illustrate ground deformation, that is caused by geological, climate or anthropogenic processes. The knowledge of InSAR based ground deformation can be used as an early warning system, to detect the possibility of future events e.g. landslides or buildings being at risk of collapsing. Additionally, the method allows to analyze occurred events (in retrospect) to find out the deformation levels of the object before the object failure event. The presentation introduces this method briefly and provides domain use-cases through examples.
