Can frost be detected from the space? Satellites and meteorological data

This presentation explores the opportunities presented by open remote sensing data in combination with terrain data to map ground frost occurence. It links the physics of frost formation to weather data derived from weather station observations and satellites. The talk will outline key data sources for post-factum ground frost detection, data alternatives and modeling approaches that could further improve frost detection. Practical applications in agriculture and forestry are discussed to illustrate how post-factum ground frost detection can improve processes.
